I invite you to feel and enjoy the turquoise lagoon of Humantay in 1 day, make contact with nature in one of the most famous natural routes of the city of Cusco, Peru.

Humantay Lake, is surrounded by imposing glaciers that are part of the Andes, among them the majestic Snowy Salkantay and Humantay that at the thaw gives rise to the splendid Humantay Lagoon, which when you visit it will transform your way of seeing the nature, enjoying the flora and fauna that will leave you immensely amazed, you will be able to breathe 100% pure oxygen enjoying the wonderful mountainous landscape.

This day begins with the pick-up from your hotel between 4:30 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., we will board our mobility to travel north-west of the city of Cusco, to  Mollepata town. This trip shows the exuberant valley of the Apurímac River.

In this small and picturesque town we will have a well-deserved breakfast to fill us with energy, then we will continue our trip to the starting point of the walk the town of Soraypampa which is at an altitude of 3,900 masl. after a short break, We will start our journey to Humantay Lake located at an altitude of 4,180 masl or 13,779 feet, after the ascent of 1 hour 20 minutes we will appreciate the wonderful landscape, after the explanation of our guide and take the souvenir photos we will have a time to enjoy the place and return to our camp to have our lunch with beautiful panoramic views of the snowy peaks and then to be transferred to the city of Cusco.

How to get to Humantay Lagoon from Cusco?

To get to the Humantay Lagoon from the City of Cusco, the following route is made.

Cusco - Mollepata: In this route we go to the northwest of the city of Cusco, to the town of Mollepata, this journey by car is approximately 2 hours, with a totally paved road passing through the valley and town of Limatambo

Mollepata - Soraypampa: This way is by land affirmed or trocha (dirt road) heading to the high jungle of Cusco, this journey has a duration of 1 hour.

Soraypampa - Humantay Lagoon: already starting the trek from soraypampa one can make the journey in 45 minutes up to 1h 30 minutes according to their physical capacity.
The Humantay lagoon is located next to the snowy of the same name, it is located north-west of the city of Cusco, in the town of Soraypampa, belonging to the District of Mollepata, Province of Anta, Department of Cusco, Peru.

The turquoise color of the humantay lagoon is due to the crystallinity of the water and the micro algae, possibly of the species Microcystis Aeruginosa and Oscillatoria, this even in research and analysis, this would be the factor of said coloration to this beautiful lagoon.
